ROAR LIONS! ROAR!!

Time spent in University is special. It is time one can give to learning in the purest since of the word. But, do we? Or perhaps the question is--what do we learn?

Roar Lions! Roar!! chronicles one semester in the lives of a graduate teaching assistant, Teacher, who is getting her Masters in Theatre and a freshman who is able to attend school because he is on a football scholarship. Their paths intersect when Wilcox, the freshman football player, is enrolled in Teacher's voice and speech class. As the play progresses we see that although their lives are completely different on the surface, they face the same moral dilemmas and are forced to make decisions that effect their very survival.

Set against a background of football frenzy and a University Theatre production of The Bacchae, we see that the pursuit of the American dream has it’s price, no matter our goals or altruistic pretensions.

LINKS

LINKS is a three act play set in and around the seemingly serene Oakland Georgia Golf and Country Club. Or is it too serene? What happens when one does everything one's society recommends? Is happiness guaranteed? If not, what is missing? In the first act, "Poolside", we see Ann and Brenda sun bathing at the edge of the country club pool. In the second act , "Tee For Two" we see Allen and Brian, their husbands, playing one hole of golf at the same country club on the same afternoon. In the final act, "Over Meat", both couples are in their respective homes having dinner. "Over Meat" is structured in such a way that we see both couples at home at the same time. The two scenes progress simultaneously, form a counterpoint and hopefully, a third reality.
